Sandwich?

“What? What are you saying? Sandwich?” <—(Angela to Dwight) One of my favorite lines from the Beach Games episode of The Office. Yesterday my family, Severin+I went to the beach. I can happily report there were sandwiches [colby jack, tomato and baby lettuce on wheat sourdough]!

Monday we all hopped in the car* around 7 and headed to Malibu after fueling up with gas and donuts. Donuts are so bad, they’re so good. I should have made my own, especially since I got a donut maker for Christmas but I was lazy. Oh well! Donut shops are cheap and abundant in Los Angeles, something I never realized until I moved to the Bay Area and found it impossible to find a donut shop anywhere! *to get to beach via bike or bus would take hours more, so it’s sadly not a viable option

We got to Malibu and found a nice chunk of shoreline that was unoccupied. It was perfect out, warm and breezy. I’m so grateful we’re able to hop in the car and wind up splashing around in the ocean not too long after. I’m surprisingly homesick for Point Richmond, where Severin and I lived a 5minute walk from the beach, so this was nice. 

my little brother playing in the sandWe ate sandwiches, split an orange and munched on the rest of this P&TY Peanut Butter Blondie. I’m glad we finally demolished it, it’s way too good and has way too much sugar and (vegan) butter to be constantly picking at it the way I had been doing since I made it a few days ago. 

Even though we had packed some healthy snacks, running around the beach for a few hours makes one VERY hungry. When we left the beach, we hit an In N Out drive-thru. Severin and I each got grilled cheese and fries. SO GOOD. Afterwards we arrived at home feeling so worn out from all the sun and junk food, a Parks and Rec marathon ensued. It is so hilarious! I would love to have Aubrey Plaza’s job- I bet acting like April is so fun.
