I must be Solar Powered

I’m here, I’m here! Please don’t give up on me! I promise to be a more bangin’ blogger soon, once school is out for the semester. I have not really much of an excuse for my extended absence besides the fact that a stomach flu wiped me out for a week. It was no fun at all so that’s the end of that story! Also, I think I am pretty sure, as a consequence of growing up in Los Angeles, I am solar powered. Today is the first sunny day I’ve seen in a while and I finally feel awake!

With all that said, I only have recent food photos from Thanksgiving. It is what it is!

I learned beets can have a tie-dye effect on hands.

Vegan plate of Thanksgiving lunch.

I ate most of this (parsnip and sweet potato fries, wild rice mix, roasted beets and butternut squash and sauteed mushrooms) and and then went back to the kitchen for some mashed potatoes and corn because it would have been wrong not to, right?

Then I ate a piece of homemade Birthday Cake #2.

I tried to eat all of that and FAILED! Maybe because the day before I had ate some of homemade Birthday Cake #1.

‘Feliz Cumpleanos’ candles. Everyone had to sing extra fast before the candles melted completely and rendered the cake inedible. I think that’s the last time anyone around here is going to buy candles in anything other than English!

Later on we went to my Nana’s house for Thanksgiving dinner.

A delicioso(!) cheese tamale eaten on my lap while I sat outside and waited for my turn to play ‘Just Dance’ on the Wii. Turns out, I have no coordination at all so I basically got my butt kicked by a bunch of kids under the age of 8! I better practice for Christmas!

Next day for breakfast I dug into some leftovers!

In my book it is never too early for ketchup! Or mushrooms, although I know others who think contrary to that as I was given funny looks while I ate this at home.

Anyone else solar-powered? Wind powered? In a past life I must have been one of those lizards that needs to lie on a rock in the sun to stay alive. That does sound nice right about now…
